Jungle Geckos will endeavour to maintain all standards of safety in all its activities. However, 4x4 Adventure does have elements of danger due to unpredictable offroad and rainforest terrain, weather factors and unforeseen circumstances such torrential rain, flooding rivers, falling trees, landslides and the slim possibility of animal attacks. Those participating in 4x4 adventure trips also face the possibility of encountering dangerous circumstances such as vehicle accidents involving rollovers or bridge or road collapses.
To minimise such possibilities, do know your capabilities and the capabilities of your vehicle before you venture offroad. Travel with a knowledgable and experienced guide or trip leader who has a well equipped vehicle capable of rescue/recovery of all vehicles in the convoy. Your trip leader should also be qualified in First Aid and have a comprehensive First Aid kit in their vehicle.
Jungle Geckos assumes no responsibility or liabiity for your safety while travelling off-road with us.
Do not travel alone off-road in Malaysia.
Do travel with a least three vehicles to facilitate a simple rescue. A large rescue may require five or more vehicles.
Leave detailed travel plans with a responsible friend. Log your entry with the local police station before you enter the jungle and log your safe return.
Mountain Biking
Mountain biking is fun. However, it can be a dangerous and possibly deadly extreme sport if one is not careful. Limit the time you spend riding on roads.
Keep your riding on off-roads trails and single tracks. Do not ride alone. Know your ability and know the terrain you are to ride through; equip your bike suitably, especially tires and brakes. Ensure you have a point and a sweep in the ride convoy. Take every precaution neccessary to ensure the safety of all riders involved. Ensure every trail intersection is marked correctly. Always ride with a helmet. Always take a tool kit, including spare tubes etc. Always ride with someone who is experienced and knows the tracks. Make sure you inform your trip leaders if you have any medical conditions. Remember to bringany special medications you need for the trip.
Carry a parang in case you have to chop down/away obstacles on the tracks (bamboo, creepers, trees etc). The same applies to all 4x4 tracks as they change from week to week, due to rain. Carry your parang somewhere safe (under top tube or on your back) where it will not cause injury of you fall. Ensure it is also carried in a sheath.
Jungle Geckos assumes no liability for your safety while mountainbiking with us.
Riverboarding
Riverboarding is fun However, it can be a dangerous and possibly deadly extreme sport, if one does not take all the necessary precautions. Know your ability and know the river. Know your line through rapids, and know potential escape routes as well. Never riverboard alone, and never ride beyond your ability. Always use the proper gear and board. Always ride with someone who is experienced and knows the river.
Jungle Geckos assumes no liability for your safety and/or stupidity while riverboarding with us.
Enjoy the adrenalin rush - but respect nature.
